6,392 visitors came to the Kista exhibition centre at the weekend when Fair Media staged this year’s first Buying a Home Abroad fair. ”It was a really good fair, I think everyone was happy this time and we had a visitor record with 6,392 visitors,” says Åsa Holmsten, the project manager.
Besides seminars on buying property, family law, retirement and tax rules abroad, a seminar programme on Swedish schools abroad was also arranged.
It was a new seminar, given by Annika Scharnke, the head of the Swedish School in Marbella, and it attracted a great deal of interest.
Madeleine Öberg of Svenska Magasinet was there on Saturday and Sunday and handed out two thousand copies of the magazine to visitors.
You can tell that Spain appeals when Swedes are looking for a holiday home in the warmth. I do not think I have ever experienced a rush like this weekend, says Madeleine Öberg.
There are many things that point to this being the right time to buy.
You can tell there is an enormous amount of interest right now, and our seminars were very well attended too. In advertisements and newspaper interviews we had stressed that it is a buyer’s moment now, with a strong krona, low interest rates, a stable housing market in Sweden and lower prices in many countries. On top of that the weather was incredibly dull and grey, which makes many people long for the sun, Åsa Holmsten tells Svenska Magasinet.
The next exhibition will be at the Swedish Exhibition Centre in Gothenburg on 22-23 February, continues in Malmö on 15-16 March and finishes in Helsingborg on 29-30 March. The next exhibition in Stockholm will be on 6 and 7 September, also at the Kista centre. 04/02/2014
