Buying a home in Spain, a popular movement

There is snow, rain or sleet, a biting wind and darkness. That is when Swedes long to get away more than ever. Over 4,000 visitors came to Buying a Home Abroad at the Swedish Exhibition Centre in Gothenburg over the weekend.

It is Spain that counts. There is no doubt about it. Of the four Spain seminars on Saturday and Sunday, three were full. That means around 300 people per seminar. The fourth was almost full.

Björn Simonsson, managing director of the organiser Fair Media, notes that buying property abroad is no longer a dream. It is a reality for many.
It is a popular movement. Nowadays people do not talk about package holidays to the warmth. Now it is about buying a home in the warmth, an investment to enjoy. It used to be a summer cottage in the archipelago or in the countryside. Now the warmth abroad appeals more than ever.

Swedes now live in a completely different reality. The dream has become real with the EU’s free movement of capital, people, goods and services, and with the ROT tax deduction for renovation work.
We are now seeing a completely different reality compared with before, says Björn Simonsson.

Over four thousand visitors came to the Swedish Exhibition Centre in Gothenburg and Buying a Home Abroad.

Niclas Djuvfeldt, owner of the removals firm Djuvfeldts Transport, agrees:
– The market is really busy now. And we have considerably more people moving abroad than heading home.

New Buying a Home Abroad exhibitions await in 2017:
Stockholm, 18-19 February
Helsinki, 18-19 March
Linköping, 1-2 April
Malmö, 21-22 October
